Take a walk on the crazy side at the gardens

Last Friday the public walk through nights stated at  the Huntsville Botanical Gardens.  Walk through nights will run through Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM each night.  I just love going on nights of walk through’s as you can take your time, stop as long as you like and really see things better than from your car in bumper to bumper traffic.  Drive though nights start Thanksgiving.

Monday night is the special night for me. It’s bring your dog night.  I went to last year’s dog night and I didn’t realize that so many different dogs existed. Aside from being fun it’s an educational experience in the different types of dogs that you normally don’t see. My hooligans didn’t go (they stank), but one of friends brought a Sheltie and the other brought her weiner dog which gave out half way from the parking lot to the entrance.  Mary put her in a stroller and Miss Priss set up in the seat checking out the common folk.

If you go your dog must be on a leash.  One dog I accused it of being a horse in a dog outfit. It looked like a Great Dane on steroids. It was on a leash pulling a little girl around going to places he wanted to see.  Last year with the thousands who went through only one escapee occurred. Last time I heard the garden volunteers and owner were in hot pursuit.

Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children. It’s a nice stroll, with one hill right at the end. Hot chocolate and brownie stations are set up in a heated tent half way around the gardens, and they don’t rob you with the prices.   For more information click the link at the top of this post.
